Where is The Ivory Closet situated?

Our Closet is based in 18 Shannon Street Limerick City. Opening hours are Tuesday-Friday 10am-1pm/2pm-5pm and Saturday strictly by appointment only.

How long can I borrow a dress for?

Dresses can be hired on a three-nightly basis however this can be extended at an additional cost to the customer. If you wish to hire a dress for a longer period this can be agreed at an additional cost of 40 euro per week per dress, however if this happens without contact or prior warning an additional daily cost of 20 euro will apply.

What designers does The Ivory Closet stock?

We are the exclusive stockiest in Ireland of well-known Australian Designer Alex Perry. Other designers which are available to hire from us here are Rachel Gilbert, Thurley, Elle Zeitoune and Zhivago (purchase only)

What sizes does The Ivory Closet carry?

We carry sizes 8-14.

How many dresses can I borrow?

Multiple dresses can be borrowed at the same time and for each additional dress a 20% discount will be offered.

How much does it cost to hire a dress?

Our Cocktail collection ranges from 80-140 Euro with our full-length gowns ranging from 180-250 Euro. This price also includes the dry-cleaning of the garment upon return.

What happens if I Damage the dress?

All minor damage is included in the hire price. However, excessive damage will incur an additional cost which will be dealt with on an individual basis.

Do you deliver the dresses?

Yes, we have a door to door courier service throughout Ireland which is an additional €10 each way and amounts to €20 in total should you need the dress delivered and collected after wear. All dresses must be signed for upon receiving and returning. The dress will be delivered to the address provided between 9am-5.30pm (please make sure there will be somebody at the address to sign for the package).

A tracking number will be issued to you on request in order for you to track the progress of delivery with courier company.

When will my dress arrive?

We endeavour for dresses to arrive two days prior to the event in order to enable the customer to accessories the dress.

Can I receive a dress the next day?

Yes, if the dress is available and ready to send it can be with the customer the following day. Please order before 1pm in order to avail of this service.

What happens if there is no one home when the dress is delivered?

If there is no one there to sign for the dress, a calling card will be left in which you will be in a position to call the driver to make alternative arrangements.

Is it safe to make a payment using my credit card?

Yes, here at The Ivory Closet we use Streamline which is a secure checkout system. Please be assured that your personal information is always kept private and confidential. We do not share your details with anyone at any time.

What happens if the dress is the wrong size?

If a dress has been ordered by phone and is unsuitable on arrival, the customer must contact us as soon as possible in order to discuss your options. Customer must ensure to call us regarding this before 5.30pm on the day of delivery. We endeavour to give the customer as much information as possible in relation to the sizing of dresses prior to arrival, so this does not occur. Any customer is more than welcome to send us measurements so that we can suggest a suitable size. Please note that courier costs are non-refundable.

What happens if I would like to purchase a dress I have borrowed?

If the dress is available for purchase we can provide the customer with more information on sale price.

Who is responsible for dry-cleaning?

Dry-cleaning cost is included in the dress hire price. Please do not attempt to clean the dress yourself.

Is it possible to reserve a dress for a future date?

Yes, we take dress booking up to three months in advance. In order to secure a dress a 50 Euro booking deposit is required to secure the booking with the balance paid on collection/prior to delivery if using courier, however if some time is needed to decide, a dress can be provisionally held for 24 hours without a deposit being received. If the customer does not contact within that time to confirm the dress chosen and to pay the deposit we will remove the booking from our records. Please note, all deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE should a booking be cancelled although we can issue a credit note for future use.

Do you purchase from customers?

No, we do not purchase garments from customers as we purchase directly from the designers.

Do you carry out alterations?

Yes, we offer a temporary alteration service on all styles to ensure the perfect fit. We recommend that customers meet our experienced dressmaker to get fitted in the dress however some alterations can be estimated at the customers own risk.

Can I cancel an order?

Orders can be cancelled; however, the booking deposit is only refundable by way of a gift voucher to the paid amount. This voucher can only be used towards future dress hire within a six-month period and not for use in purchasing during our sale period.

Do you purchase from customers?

No, we do not purchase garments from customers as we purchase directly from the designers.

Are the dresses in good condition?

Our dresses are in ‘new’ to ‘as new’ condition. All dresses are specialist cleaned before and after each use and we endeavour to make sure that each dress is carefully inspected and examined to make sure that any loose threads, missing sequins are repaired prior to collection.

Is there an insurance policy available when hiring a dress?

We completely understand that sometimes freak accidents may happen. In this instance, all minor damage is included in the hire price. However, excessive damage will incur an additional cost which will be dealt with on an individual basis.

Do you ever sell off the dresses?

Yes, we hold a three-day Closet Clear-out each quarter throughout the year. Once dates have been confirmed, we will have advertised here on our website and throughout or various social media outlets.
